Hi all,

Re: signature and who's included-- rather than explicitly excluding individuals, can we shift to signing it as from specific individuals (instead of "music faculty")? Totally understand your position, Kyle.

Cassie, Daniel, Mike, Jeremy, Connor, Matt-- which of you would like to have your names on this or not on it? I will not send it out with specific names in the signature without hearing positively from everyone.

Dwight, I think you have a legit point as well-- my own personal feeling on that one is that it would be ideal to have a new director chosen with the participation of all of the faculty who will be new in the next few years; I'm not sure I myself feel up to opening the "faculty first" vs. "admin first" box with the Dean... If you're ok our finding another opportunity to express this particular idea (which I do agree with) I would maybe proceed with this email as is, also for purposes of getting it out ASAP... I'll be around this afternoon if you have a moment and want to stop by and chat about it.

Bill, maybe you'll chime in re: the question of compensation for service outside of faculty contract dates-- but my own experience with this is that service outside of contracted dates is essentially flexible and on a volunteer basis (?); aside from official teaching responsibilities, which I'm aware of being paid a la carte in the summer, I'm not personally aware of faculty being compensated for out of contract service activities.
